Alaska Tour and Cruise

5/23/00 to 6/7/00

 

5/23/2000          Fly to Anchorage

 

5/24          Motorcoach to Kenai Princess Wilderness Lodge from Anchorage along Cook Inlet and Turnagain Arm and through Chugach Mountains.

 

5/26          Motorcoach back to Anchorage to catch Ultra Dome rail to Talkeetna for further mortorcoach trip to Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge. Two days of tours to a homestead, panning for gold, and clear views of Mt. McKinley.

 

5/28          Travel to Denali National Park and catch rail to Fairbanks. Following morning a “Discovery” Riverboat trip aboard a sternwheeler for a cruise on the Chena and Tanana rivers with a stop at the “Old Chena Village” where native guides provide a glimpse of history and culture of the Athabascan people.

 

5/29          Following the river trip we fly to Anchorage for mortorcoach trip to Seward to board the Dawn Princess.

 

5/30 to 6-5          The Cruise starts with a sail over to College Bay and its glaciers named for eastern universities. Backtracking some we head south for the fantastic views of Glacier Bay. We head further along the inside passage to Skagway and hence to Juneau with the final port of call at Ketchikan prior to disembarking at Vancouver.

 

6/6 to 6/7          Prior to our return home we toured Vancouver followed by a Victoria Day excursion. In Victoria we spend time looking with awe at the Butchart Gardens and ending our day with high tea in the Empress Hotel.
